'मालतीमंगले? का सात कलाकार अमेरिकामा बेपत्ता'

काठमाडौं, साउन ९ - गीतिनाटक 'मालतीमंगले' प्रदर्शनीमा अमेरिका गएका नेपाल राजकीय प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठानका सात कलाकार उतै बेपत्ता भएका छन् ।
वैशाख २४ देखि झन्डै अढाई महिना लामो अमेरिका यात्राको नेतृत्व गरेर फिरेका प्राज्ञ सरुभक्तका अनुसार कलाकारहरू 'केही महिनापछि फिर्ने' भनेर उतै बसेका हुन् । 'अमेरिकाका सात सहरमा नाटक देखाइन्जेल हामी साथै थियौं,' प्राज्ञ सरुभक्तले कान्तिपुरसँग भन्नुभयो । अमेरिकाका नर्थ क्यारोलिना, न्युयोर्क, वाल्टिमोर, सियाटल, डेनवर, डेलास र वासिङटन डीसीमा नाटक प्रदर्शन पूरा गरेपछि मात्रै केही कलाकारले उतै बस्ने इच्छा देखाएको उहाँले बताउनुभयो ।

'मैंले नाटक लैजानुअघि देखि नै काम सकेर फिर्नुपर्ने कुरामा प्रतिबद्ध बनाएको थिएँ,' उहाँले भन्नुभयो- 'यो प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठान र देशकै प्रतिष्ठाको विषय हो भनी सम्झाएको थिएँ तर कोही आर्थिक र कोही व्यक्तिगत कारण भन्दै उतै बसेका छन् ।' प्रतिष्ठानको नाट्य विभागका प्रमुखसमेत रहेका सरुभक्तले कलाकार उतै बसेको प्रतिवेदन यसै साता प्रज्ञा परिषद्मा बुझाएपछि उनीहरूलाई सेवाबाट निष्कासन सहितको कारबाही गरिने भएको छ ।

उतै बस्ने कलाकारमा 'मालतीमंगले' मा 'मालती' बन्ने लक्ष्मी श्रेष्ठसहित कृष्णमुरारी ढुंगेल, कृष्णमान तुलाधर, श्यामप्रसाद खड्गी, संगीता शर्मा, सरस्वती राना र तारा सुवाल छन् । यसमध्ये अभिनेत्री एवं नृत्यांगना श्रेष्ठले दर्जनौं नाटकमा अभिनय गरेकी छन् भने अभिनेता ढुंगेल चर्चित टेलिशृंखला 'अविरल बग्छ इन्द्रावती' चलचित्र 'नौडाँडापारि' लगायतका निर्देशक हुन् । उनले दर्जनौं टेलिफिल्म र नाटकमा अभिनय/ निर्देशन गरेका छन् ।

अभिनेत्री लक्ष्मीले उनका छोराहरू अमेरिकाकै नागरिक भइसकेकाले उतै बस्न रुचि देखाएकी हुन् भने अरूहरूले आफ्नै पैसामा नाटक खेल्न गएकाले त्यो पैसा उठाउन पनि केही महिना बस्नैपर्ने 'बाध्यता' खुलाएका थिए । यो नाटकका लागि टोलीप्रमुख प्राज्ञ सरुभक्तसहित सबैले आफ्नै खर्चमा अमेरिका यात्रा गरेका थिए । राष्ट्रकवि माधवप्रसाद घिमिरेको सिर्जना 'मालतीमंगले' पहिलोपटक यिनै कलाकार टोलीबाट ०४२ सालमा प्रदर्शनमा आएको थियो । यसको संगीत निर्देशक अम्बर गुरुङ र नाटक निर्देशक वसन्त श्रेष्ठ रहनुभएको छ । 'मालतीमंगलेको अहिलेसम्म वर्तमान थियो, अब इतिहास हुने भयो,' प्राज्ञ सरुभक्तले दुःखी हुँदै भन्नुभयो- 'उता इतिहास समापन गर्न गएजस्तो भयो ।' उतै बस्ने अभिनेत्री लक्ष्मी नाटक निर्देशक वसन्तकी श्रीमती हुन् भने कलाकार लीलाराजसिंह सुवालकी श्रीमती तारा पनि उतै बसेकी छिन् ।
हाल वासिङटन डीसीमा रहेका प्रतिष्ठानकै पूर्वकर्मचारी हेमन्त श्रेष्ठसहितको नेपाली समूहले गरेको निमन्त्रणमा गएको नाट्य टोलीले धेरै प्रवासी नेपालीमाझ नेपाली रंगमञ्चको चिनारी बाँड्न सकेको उहाँले बताउनुभयो । नाट्य टोलीले प्रेमराजा महत, राजाराम पौड्याल, करिश्मा मानन्धर, सरोज खनाल, रवि लामिछाने, गोविन्द गिरी प्रेरणालगायतका कलाकार, कविसँग भेटघाट गरेको थियो । 'तर सबै भेटघाट र अन्तक्रिर्या अहिले फिका बन्न पुगेका छन्,' उहाँले भन्नुभयो- 'उतै नाटक देखाएर उठेको पैसाबाट कलाकार खर्च बेहोर्न सकिएला भन्ने थियो, त्यो पनि सकिएन ।'

This is a good dose of reality. Looks like Malati and Mangaley couple ends in the US where the Malatis elope with the Dollar and the Mangaley's elope with the Dollar. I'm sure the American embassy keeps a note of this thus making it more and more difficult for nepali artists to get visa to come to the US.

This is highly understandable if artists are in US on their own money. How can you predict a nepali artist expenses so much of money for air tickets and lodging and fooding unless they have preplaned to self-lost in US. I am sure even coordinators know it before hand and I will not be surprised if they have added some more persons as technicians to fly them to US by taking lakhs and lakhs of rupees.

Few people made good money - I bet!!!!

No wonder, we need visa even for mere transit.
A topic worth discussing on pros and cons of such incidences that malign and tranish the reputation and crediability of the whole community. But again such common impact will dilute in time, while some among us will have the opportunity to prosper.

Here are some facts:

1.The bunch of these artists had intentions to go to US legally and illegally. So in the process of finding a process, they found a link with a ex- Rajkiya Pragya Pratisthan employee now running a restaurant in DC.

2. Knowing that the visa is pretty difficult process, they managed to convince Saru Bhakta, who denied initially but was given the greed to visit US and his cost of travel borne by the profit from the shows.

3. To make it look more genuine, they even fabricated fake shows and dates in cities that never took place.

4. The artists had conflict in the beginning to perform shows as Danfe Entertainment started making demands for the share of profit and compensation for their role to bring the artists to US.
The artists had no choice as some of their scheduled programs were set and had no financial control so they had to choose to stay in the US illegally.

5. The entertainment company and the artists, by the law of US are subjected to the tax for their earnings and they never paid the taxes.

6. Laxmi Shrestha claims that her sons are ?citizens? of the US and if so, her timing was wrong as parents of the citizens can be sponsored.

7. Natakkar Sharu Bhakta tries to save his ass by going to the media and saying ?oh yo desa ra pratisthan kai pratistha ho?, and Hemant Shrestha, who orchestrated whole drama makes similar statement. Shame on these people.

8. Danfe Entertainment is going to delete its free website, if in case IRS check their records.

This usual practice that our KALAKAR 'NAUTANKIKAR' hide in US. But before criticizing Saru Bhakta, its better to find out his morality. He is not that type of person and I have seen him from near, he is always dedicated for literature.

You are right Nepalean but the situation is as such, he might even be accused of taking money from the "fled" ones.

I personally think he is a genuine guy and the situation is out of his control. He might be a very depressed person right now as he is a sensitive person.

No wonder, Nepali passport dkhne bittekai potential illegal immigrant bhanera huttaidencha. "You know how most Nepalese stays illegally after entering US, your case is genuine and strong but we are sorry", tesko bau ko tauko.

So, let's get off our high horses and try to understand these seven Nepali artitsts from the Maalati Mangale who are now staying back in the United States, where many from Mexican borders risk death, many from China cramped in ships, some from Africa even hid themselves in the airplanes' wheels, just to get here.
