I went to Juares (Mexico) and after a few years went to Vancouver (Canada).Take all the documents.Shouldn't be any problem.Someone I knew went to Nepal instead and got rejected (H1B).It was almost 3 years ago, he is still in Nepal.Others have gotten from Nepal too.
Good luck !

Do your research. Know about VISA MANTIS, trust me you want to.

They encourage you to apply visa from ur native country. If you wanna take that suggestion, its best to take a multi entry visa to canada and then goto Nepal and apply for US H1 visa. If you don't get visa there, you can come to Canada and try again. OR, u could first try in canada and go back to nepal.

But know about MANTIS.

Sofaking,
I am in the 2nd year of H1B. I went to Matamoros...Mexico close to Brownsville,TX just few days ago. It was a hell. I almost thought that the lady is going to deny me. I went to school here for 4 yrs and then got this H1B. Total no of years I have been here is 6.
Her question was... you came to this country for ur education, why didn't you go back........I am not a person who gets nervous that easily but ..........she made me stammer as there were too many questions. Never been out of status, but had to prove it. She looked at my EAD card and the date. Looked at all my I-20. Asked every detail about my work place. Asked why I came to Mexico instead of going back home where I had to say ...my friend lives in ....city and as it is a long weekend I was visitng Mexico for Tour. She asked my friedn name and the place where she lives.
If you decide to go make sure all your papers are in order. Since these days they give 4yrs multiple visa for students, she kept on asking where my student visa is for all these years was issued for 1 yr only . Back then that's what they did. But had to tell her that i-20 is my visa for the rest of years till I got my H1B. I showed her my I-20's and told her that kept me in status. I felt that she didnot know what she was asking for. She was so rude, when I got visa, she didnot tell me that I got it. It was only after sometime they called my name and I found that she had given me visa.
She kept on asking me questions after question. I didnot want to lie. But after answering 3-4 questions, I gave up. I told her I am going to Nepal next year and I will stay there coz that was the only thing she wanted to hear.............as she was asking 3 times why didnot you go back, why? After that she asked me what kind of jobs will you get in Nepal and asked about my prospects...I made up a story here. I told her I have better chances than anyone there as I have US degree and experience. (Lie again) I will find a decent job without any problem. And Also that I am about to get married and my significant other is in Nepal.
She even asked me when I am getting married. I had to tell her that "date isnot fixed but I am sure I will have to go to Nepal for wedding".
I wouldnot suggest anyone to go to that place. Better get your GC and then leave this country. Otherwise it is 50/50 chances.
All the best...........

People in both Juares and Vancouver were nice.they asked me a few usual questions in conversation style. Both the interviews lasted about a couple of minutes. And I was told that I got the visa. Sofaking, if you need to go to Canada or Mexico, I would suggest you go to Canada.
In addition to your H1B papers and stuffs, take the following papers:
1)Your old I-20s (all of them)
2)All of your passports (if you have more than one due to renewal)
3)A letter from your supervisor (like a recommendation letter)
4)If you go to Canada, know the name and address of at least one person who lives there.
5)Take your undergrad transcript (even if you are no longer a student)
6)Take any paper you think helps you out (you can always put it in a secondary folder).
7)Get a multiple entry visa of Canada via mail (just in case).
8)Don't lie to them unless it is absolutely necessary. If you need to lie, be a good liar.
Good luck !!

I have heard that they no longer stamp visas in Canada and Mexico and they require you to go back to your country. However i had my revalidated by mailing it, but i guess they have stopped doing that too. I think you should take avi's advice.

you could be safe that way.

All the best!!!

Sofaking, I suggest you not to take the risk in Mexico or Canada. I know a friend of mine, who almost got in trouble. :)

I think they no longer allow you to stamp your visa in a third country. You have to go back to your native land. That is is the new rule, I think.
www.murthy.com is an excellent site for all immigration related matters.
I was in Nepal for my H1 last year and it was cool. Just a few questons and they gave my visa but I have known people that have been rejected and are still in Nepal.
I think all this is a matter of luck than anythiing else. You reject you if they feel like it.
